In this talk, Prof. John Minford will be sharing his ongoing work on his forthcoming autobiography, named after his Garden of Winding Paths in New Zéaland.

Prof. John Minford
As a sinologist and literary translator, Prof. John Minford is primarily known for his translations of Chinese classics such as The Story of the Stone, The Art of War, I Ching, Tao Te Ching, and Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio. He graduated from Oxford in 1968 with a First Class Honours degree in Chinese Studies and for the subsequent 15 years worked closely with David Hawkes on the Penguin Classics version of The Story of the Stone, translating the last forty chapters. He later spent an extended period teaching translation and Chinese literature at universities in mainland China, Hong Kong, New Zealand, and Australia.
